ballpark Free for homeowners

How Ballpark works

Tell us about a job on your house. We ask a few questions, then give you a ballpark price straight away: two or three options, each with a price range. If you want to go ahead, we find local trades to quote. It’s free for homeowners.

1. Describe the job

Type it in your own words, the way you’d explain it to a builder. You can add photos, videos, a voice note or plans (PDFs). Photos help most: a picture of the boiler, the damp patch or the room tells us a lot.

2. Answer a few questions

We ask what a trade would ask before pricing: roughly how big, what’s there now, how easy it is to get to, and anything that would change the cost. Usually two or three questions. You can skip them, but the ballpark will be wider.

3. Get your ballpark

You get two or three options, cheapest first, such as a repair, the job as you described it, and a step up. Each has a price range, what it includes and the assumptions behind it. How we work out the price.

Leave your email and we’ll send you a private link back to it.

4. Get quotes, if you want them

If you’d like real quotes, tell us which option and we’ll find local trades for the job. We only show them the job details and photos if you say we can, and they don’t get your name, number or email unless you agree to hear from them.

Common questions

Is a ballpark the same as a quote?

No. It’s a sensible range to budget with and to check quotes against. A trade will usually want to see the job before giving a fixed price.

Does it cost anything?

No. Ballpark is free for homeowners, and you don’t have to get quotes.

Will trades ring me?

Only if you ask for quotes and agree to a trade contacting you.

Can landlords and businesses use it?

Yes. Business and public-sector jobs are priced without VAT, the way businesses budget.
